Religion

Origin of Hindu word: Hinduism is also called Sanatan, Vedic or Aryan religion. Hindu is a word of misconception. Hinduism or Hinduism was called Sanatan Dharma in ancient times. The word Hindu was not prevalent a thousand years ago. In the Rig Veda, many times the mention of Satpa is mentioned. The meaning of the word Sindhu is river or watershed. On this basis, a river was named after the Indus river, which flows through Ladakh and Pak.

Linguists believe that the sound of the Hind-Aryan languages turns into 'H' sound of Iranian languages. Even today, 'sa' is pronounced 'h' in many areas of India. Therefore, the Sapta Sindhu converted into the Avestan language (the language of the Parsis) and became converted into a Hindu Hindus. For this reason, the Iranians gave the Hindu name to the people living east of the Indus river. But the people of Sindh province of Pakistan are still called Sindhu or Sindhi.
